Community Needs Assessment – Aged Care Facilities – Dunedoo/Mendooran
Dunedoo Mendooran Aged Hostel Limited required a feasibility study into aged care needs in the Dunedoo locality. They had built the Dunedoo Hostel and managed it for a long time until the hostel was combined with the new Hospital where it fell under the management of Greater Western Area Health.
The group persisted with the purpose of investigating other aged care options particularly self-care units. The group investigated the old hospital site as a potential site for the units until it was deemed too expensive to remove the existing structure.
Members of the committee then decided to conduct a study to assess what the community needs before investigating any further options.
A community needs assessment/feasibility study undertaken by Seed Business Solutions focused on
- Demand for aged care services
- The type of aged care services required
- The benefits to the local community including:
- job creation; and
- social benefits.
